Lyman Frank Baum was born in Chittenango, New York, 15 May 1856. He was an American author chiefly famous for his children's books, particularly The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and its sequels. He wrote 14 novels in the Oz series, plus 41 other novels, 83 short stories, over 200 poems, and at least 42 scripts.

• Synopsis

Dorothy lives peacefully in prairies of Texas with her uncle and her aunt until the storm bring her far away from home in the land of Oz. To get back to Texas, she goes to meet the Wizard of Oz in Emerald city, country in the midst of land. She wishes Oz can help her to find a way to Texas.

Her journey never been easy, she met many dangerous things, but the good thing is she find comrades in her journey. She met a scarecrow in the cornfield who wishes to have brain, the tin woodman in the forest who wishes to have heart, and the coward lion who wishes to have courage. Together they go to Emerald city to meet Oz.

To grand their wishes, the Oz himself told to Dorothy to kill the wicked witch in the West, after he knows Dorothy kill the wicked witch of the East, so there is no more wicked witch in the land of Oz. Their journey were so long and difficult, does Dorothy can come back to Texas and met her aunt again?

• Opinion

This story is so good and nice and I love it. The book isn't that thick, it's only 184 pages, easy enough for the beginner reader to read an English classics stories. Also, the vocabularies are not that hard to understand for English learner and I highly recommend this book. Rate 4,5/5⭐

Novel ini menceritakan seorang anak, yaitu Dorothy bersama dengan teman-temannya melakukan perjalanan untuk menemui sang penyihir hebat, Oz. Rombongan kecil itu terdiri dari Dorothy, singa penakut, orang-orangan sawah, dan manusia timah pemotong kayu. Masing2 orang memiliki tujuan berbeda untuk menemui Oz.

Dalam perjalanannya mengelilingi negeri untuk menemukan Oz, mereka menemukan banyak rintangan dan hambatan. Bertemu dengan hewan buas, jalan terjal, hingga penyihir jahat yang mencoba membunuhnya. Itu adalah perjalanan yang sulit bagi seorang gadis kecil. Tapi kekompakan mereka patut diacungi jempol.

Hal yang aku suka dalam novel ini adalah penulis menceritakan masing-masing kisah mereka dari yang awalnya bukan apa-apa hingga berkembang menjadi apa yang mereka inginkan. Dan kisah seperti itu sangat menarik untuk di ikuti.
